CPA Voice: AI and the audit

“AI is revolutionizing audit solutions but hang on for the ride as its integration continues to evolve, along with associated challenges and risks,” writes Laura Hay, CPA, CAE, OSCPA executive vice president, in the January/February issue of CPA Voice.
Audit software is beginning to include the mention of artificial intelligence and machine learning. So, what does this mean for auditors? Currently, AI integration is relatively new, but it is important to understand how it can be leveraged.
“While AI is transforming the audit, it’s unlikely to replace it due to the need for professional skepticism, judgement and critical thinking,” writes Hay. “However, auditors who are adept at using AI are likely to gain efficiencies over those who are not, pointing to the need for continuous upskilling and reskilling of teams.”
