The Ohio Society of CPAs is partnering with the Ohio Department of Taxation to host a webinar on Wednesday, Jan. 24 from 12:00 – 1:00 pm. One hour of CPE will be provided – join us as we kick off the 2024 tax filing season by registering here.
The webinar will focus on Ohio individual and school district income tax updates, and will cover:
• Updates for individual and school district income tax for tax year 2023 and beyond including legislative updates, form updates, system updates, and filing season reminders.
• A closer look at the redesign of SD 100, Ohio’s new tax system OH|Tax eServices and what’s coming in 2024.
Related, ODT recently released its 2023 tax year instructions booklet for filing original and amended individual income tax (IT 1040) and school district income tax (SD 100) returns. The instructions booklet can be downloaded here.
In addition to the webinar opportunity, ODT released important updates to the pass-through entity (PTE) and fiduciary income tax (FIT) on Dec. 27, including tax rate changes, new nonrefundable credits, and the ability of EPTEs to claim the resident credit for SALT cap taxes paid to other states. The OSCPA government relations team was instrumental in advocating for several of these changes through the legislative process. These updates can be downloaded here.
Finally, major changes to the commercial activity tax (CAT) just took effect on Jan. 1, 2024. You can read a summary here of the new law and its impact on taxpayers.
