IRS updates on PTIN holders and enrolled agents

Written on Feb 18, 2019

Returns Per PTIN, Expansion to all PTIN holders:

Beginning the week of Feb. 25 the IRS is expanding the availability of “Returns Per PTIN” information in the PTIN system to all PTIN holders.

Previously the information had been available only to PTIN holders with a professional credential or who participated in the Annual Filing Season Program. A minimum number of 50 returns must be processed under a PTIN in the current year for data to be displayed. Only Form 1040 series returns are included.

Update on Enrolled Agent Renewal Processing:

The processing of renewals for enrolled agents whose enrollment expires March 31 is delayed because of the government shutdown. The IRS is automatically extending enrollment card expiration for this group, which includes all enrolled agents with social security numbers ending in 0, 1, 2 or 3.

The deadline for submitting timely renewals was Jan. 31. All renewal applications will be worked on a first in, first out basis. Enrolled Agents with social security numbers ending in 0, 1, 2 or 3 who have not yet submitted a renewal should do so immediately at Pay.gov.

This information has been added to the Enrolled Agent News page on IRS.gov.
