This week in accounting social media

Written on Jul 31, 2020

One thing we plan to do regularly on the OSCPA blog is let you know what’s going on around the social media world and share the updates we find interesting.

To start, we reviewed some of the top trending hashtags used by OSCPA and other influencers (on Twitter) throughout April:

  • #OhioCPAproud
  • #taxseason
  • #AdvanceOSCPA
  • #OhioBusinessCompetes

Here’s the scoop on each of those: OSCPA recently completed an all-hands-on-deck blitz of the state, dropping off treats, tchotchkes and well wishes for its members. We shared photos from our tour on Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram, using the #OhioCPAproud hashtag. The visits coincided with the end of tax season, though we also visited accounting professionals at dozens of other organizations across several industries.

Our president and CEO, Scott Wiley, CAE, kicked off Advance – a program designed to help our members think about the trends that impact business in a complex global environment – at the end of April.

And finally, OSCPA joined Ohio Business Competes in April, adding its name to a growing list of organizations partnering to build a stronger, more inclusive workforce. Ohio Business Competes is a nonpartisan coalition committed to achieving LGBT-inclusive nondiscrimination policies.

Here are a few other trends we saw over the last couple weeks on Twitter:

  • Tax season 2018 (FINALLY) ended!
  • Bober Markey Fedorovich & Company in Akron bowled for Big Brothers and Big Sisters on April 20. Great work, guys!
  • A lot of you posted about LeBron James … #WhateverItTakes
  • And Baker Mayfield #Believeland
  • Yet, there was one Ohio sports team conspicuously absent from this week’s tweets… #RallyTogether

  • And, Avalara, a cloud-based solution for transactional taxes, included OSCPA members Eileen Sass and Rita Keller, in its round-up of Accounting’s Top 100 Social Media Leaderboard. Congrats, ladies!
