Tiberi named chair of key committee

Written on Jul 31, 2020

U.S. Rep. Pat Tiberi, R-Genoa Township, will be the next chairman of a joint U.S. House-Senate committee on the economy and the first Ohioan to chair the committee since Sen. Robert Taft held the position in the late 1940s.

House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., made the appointment, which was ratified last week by Congress. The committee is tasked with reviewing economic conditions and making policy recommendations.

Tiberi served as vice-chair of the committee during the last Congress. The chairmanship of the committee alternates between the Senate and House every Congress.

“It is an honor to be named the Chairman of the Joint Economic Committee for the 115th Congress,” Tiberi said. “I look forward to working with my colleagues in the House and Senate to promote pro-growth policies and ideas that foster a strong environment to create jobs, boost wages and allow Americans to keep more of their hard-earned dollars.”

Rep. Tiberi has been a longtime friend of the CPA profession, reaching out often to OSCPA to learn about issues of concern and working with OSCPA to develop common-sense solutions.
