20. Keynote Laura A. Hay, CPA, is the Executive Vice President for The Ohio Society of CPAs. In her role, Hay provides enterprise-wide leadership in the areas of strategy and planning, and drives thought leadership activities to and for the accounting profession, including responsibility for knowledge and learning, technical services (peer review, professional ethics and accounting & auditing services,) The Ohio CPA Foundation, pipeline and content and media. Hay has been associated with OSCPA since 1992. Prior to joining The Ohio Society, Hay was a senior auditor with Price Waterhouse in Columbus, then taught introductory accounting at Indiana University while pursuing graduate studies. Hay obtained her undergraduate degree with honors from Miami University, and is a member of The Ohio Society of CPAs, the American Institute of CPAs, the American Society of Association Executives and the Ohio Society of Association Executives.

22. Money Laundering Robert Nordlander has over 20 years of experience as a special agent with IRS-Criminal Investigation. With his expertise in federal complex white-collar investigations, he can uncover the scheme, trace the hidden assets and income, and speak accounting in “common” language for everyone to understand. As a former IRS employee, you also get an expert in resolving tax problems. The IRS has the power to garnish wages, levy bank accounts, and put liens on your property. 23. OSCPA Legislative Update Adam is a certified public accountant and an attorney. He has over 17 years of experience. He advises clients on a wide range of multistate tax issues including income and franchise, sales and use, property, business activity, and municipal income taxes. Additionally, Adam has experience negotiating and obtaining state and local incentives throughout the United States. Prior to rejoining Plante Moran in 2019, Adam practiced law for over seven years with a focus in state and local tax. While practicing law, he won a sales tax appeal at the Ohio Board of Tax Appeals changing a 20 year old precedent on the treatment of data cabling. He was also named an Ohio Rising Star by Super Lawyers for 2019 and 2020. Adam currently serves as the chair of the State and Local Tax Committee and also serves on the Global Conference Advisory Committee for the Ohio Society of CPAs. He is also the chair of the Municipal Income Tax Subcommittee for the Ohio State Bar Association Taxation Committee. Additionally, Adam serves on the Board of Directors and Finance Committee for the Area Development Foundation of Knox County. Adam is a graduate of the University of Findlay with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and also received a Master of Taxation and Juris Doctor from Capital University.

31. Cost Segregation Craig Miller is a CPA and a Certified Government Financial Manager. He is a former Tax Commissioner Agent for the State of Ohio and a former adjunct faculty instructor of accounting and finance at Cleveland State University and Lorain County Community College. Miller is a legislative key person for The Ohio Society of CPAs and served on an AICPA focus panel that recommended exam content for the uniform CPA exam. He serves on the Board of the Northern Ohio National Association of Industrial and Office Properties(NAIOP), and is the Vice-Chair of the United States Green Building Council in Northeast Ohio.

35. The Pro's and Cons of an Ohio Sales/Use Tax Audit Steven A. Dimengo is a shareholder in the Akron based law firm of Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLC. His practice primarily includes consultation and representation with respect to federal and Ohio tax law matters. Mr. Dimengo is routinely engaged to structure proposed transactions in a manner to obtain optimum tax minimization. He is actively involved in representation before the Ohio Tax Commissioner, the Ohio Board of Tax Appeals and the Supreme Court of Ohio. He is admitted to the United States Tax Court and the Federal District Court. Mr. Dimengo is a certified public accountant. He received his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Akron; his J.D. degree, cum laude, from the University of Akron College of Law and his M.A. degree in taxation from the University of Akron.
