Welcome to Internal Controls. In this module, you will learn about risk management, including ways to assess and identify common risks. You will also learn how to develop internal controls to protect your organization. While there are many kinds of risks when running a business, this module will focus on financial risks.

In this module, you will learn about business acumen, business environments, business models, and business process analysis. You will also learn finance’s roles and responsibilities within an organization including: customer service, metrics, and adhering to ethical standards and policies. 

In this module, we are going to examine the importance and role of planning, budgeting, and forecasting. We are also going to look at process analysis and process performance issues. To help you better understand these concepts, we will look at these concepts through the lens of a business in its first year in operation and again at the end of its second year.

In this module, we are going to look at various types of reporting and explain how these reports support Enterprise Performance Management. We will examine how the role of finance goes beyond generating reports that meet ‘generally accepted accounting principles, to become a partner in providing insights into an organization’s performance.

In this module we are going to look at the role that finance plays in helping an organization manage its costs. We will examine key cost concepts, explore methods for analyzing costs and explain how this information is used in decision-making, not only by finance but by managers who rely on these reports to effectively manage their departments.
