Barbara Benton leads The Ohio Society of CPAs’ legislative and regulatory efforts at the state and federal levels. She has over 25 years of experience lobbying on behalf of the CPA profession, focusing on professional regulation, tax, accounting, auditing and general business issues, including major reforms in tort and tax laws.
A summa cum laude graduate of Otterbein University, Benton is a leader of the Ohio Alliance for Civil Justice tort reform coalition, serves on the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) APAC and Power of A Committees, and is past chair of ASAE’s Government Relations Section Council and past president of the Ohio Lobbying Association.
Benton is a two-time recipient of the Ohio Lobbying Association's Presidential Award for service to the profession of lobbying and a Certified Association Executive (CAE). Prior to joining The Ohio Society of CPAs, she served as a legislative aide in the Ohio Senate.
