OH|TAX expansion: New taxes go live Nov. 12

Written on Sep 19, 2025

On Nov. 12, 2025, the Ohio Department of Taxation will launch the third phase of its OH|TAX eServices platform. This expansion brings several additional taxes online, allowing more taxpayers to file, pay and manage their accounts electronically.

Among the newly supported taxes are the Pass-Through Entity (PTE) and Fiduciary Income Tax, which apply to S corporations, partnerships, LLCs, and trusts with Ohio income; the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) for commercial vehicles operating across state lines; the Municipal Electric Light and Telephone (MELT) Income Tax; the Severance Tax on natural resource extraction; and the Alcohol Beverages Tax covering beer, wine, cider and mixed drinks.

Beyond filing, OH|TAX offers secure identity verification, online payments, real-time access to filing history, electronic delivery of notices and even live web messaging and screen sharing with tax agents. The system also features Pilot, a virtual assistant available 24/7 to answer questions and guide users through the platform.

To prepare, taxpayers should establish an OHID account, Ohio’s digital identity system, and set up multi-factor authentication. These steps will ensure smooth access to OH|TAX once the new features go live. With this expansion, Ohio continues its effort to modernize tax administration and make compliance simpler for businesses and individuals alike.
