The Ohio Department of Taxation (ODT) hosted its Ohio Virtual Tax Academy (OVTA) on Jan. 15 with a focus on the tax practitioner community. Several resources were provided during the presentations that members may find valuable as we head into the 2025 tax filing season.
The first session provided information related to the personal (PIT) and school district income tax filing season. It included updates to the IT 1040 and SD 100, as well as tips to make sure your returns are filed correctly. A copy of the presentation can be downloaded here.
The second session provided an overview of how practitioners can register for an OH|Tax account. It also included an overview of the taxes in the system’s first and second release, as well as the phase 3 implementation schedule. A copy of the presentation can be downloaded here.
The final session provided tips related to the employer withholding annual filing season, as well as the sales tax semi-annual deadline in late January. ODT focused on common mistakes to avoid and how to ensure filing goes smoothly. The employer withholding presentation can be downloaded here and the sales tax presentation is located here.
