This week's CPA of Ohio is Sanjana Jain, CPA, senior advisory consultant at Deloitte.
When did you first know you wanted to be a CPA?
"The summer after my freshman year of college, I visited my grandparents in India for four months. As a finance major at the time, I wasn’t too sure if the field was for me. During my visit, my grandpa was the one who understood my uncertainty and suggested accounting to me given it is the basic language of business. Together, we researched the career path and service lines. Upon our research, we visited the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, India’s professional accounting body, where I was able to talk to professionals and hear how they grew in their respective careers. Hearing their experiences helped seal the deal for me."
Is there a piece of life advice someone gave you that really resonated?
"Growing up, my mom would always say 'be true to yourself.' These words have resonated with me throughout reminding me to be myself and live life with integrity. Thank you for the advice, mom!"
What advice would you give to your 21-year-old self?
"Do what you love and do it often. This is your life and find what you love to do, and keep doing it."
What makes you laugh?
"Golden retriever videos – no doubt!"
