The Ohio Society of CPAs' endorsement program is an important foundation of the Society’s advocacy work. It helps inform CPAs about candidates who listen to and support the concerns of the accounting profession and business community and heightens awareness among candidates about the Society's key issues.
The Society's statewide screening committee evaluates candidates for the respective races on behalf of OSCPA members. Candidates were endorsed based on their responses to our candidate questionnaire on key issues of importance to our profession and Ohio business community. The committee also took into account their voting record, working relationship with OSCPA, background and electability. The Society’s Executive Board separately considered and approved the endorsements.

Strong income tax collections drove state revenues $251 million past estimates last month. Preliminary numbers for May show overall, tax collections were up 9.8% over estimates according to the Office of Budget and Management (OBM). The state has collected $26.4 billion over the fiscal year, which is just over $800 million above estimates.

The Ohio Senate adopted the latest version of the budget bill on June 3. The big news was the Senate moving Ohio to a flat tax on nonbusiness income phased in over two years.
