The IRS and tax professionals are preparing for the start of tax season, hoping for a smooth filing season like last year, although last-minute tax law changes are possible thanks to a deal working its way through Congress to revive tax breaks like a more generous Child Tax Credit. 

Ohio legislators introduce new bills that would eliminate state income tax 
Two new bills introduced by Republican legislators at the Ohio Statehouse Jan. 23 aim to eliminate the state’s income tax and commercial activities tax. Legislators said they looked at models in other states while preparing the legislation.
