The Ohio Society of CPAs' endorsement program is an important foundation of the Society’s advocacy work. It helps inform CPAs about candidates who listen to and support the concerns of the accounting profession and business community and heightens awareness among candidates about the Society's key issues.
The Society's statewide screening committee evaluates candidates for the respective races on behalf of OSCPA members. Candidates were endorsed based on their responses to our candidate questionnaire on key issues of importance to our profession and Ohio business community. The committee also took into account their voting record, working relationship with OSCPA, background and electability. The Society’s Executive Board separately considered and approved the endorsements.

Effective Jan. 1, 2025, the annual exclusion amount for business increases from $3 million to $6 million. If your taxable gross receipts are $6 million or less, you will not have to pay the tax.

If signed into law by the Governor, new approaches will be adopted in Ohio that will address the challenges the CPA profession is now facing: the shrinking population of CPAs caused by retirements and too few new licensees, and strengthening existing interstate mobility laws to protect current licensees in the future.
