As of April 9, 2025, qualified CPAs licensed in other states can now practice in the Buckeye State without needing to obtain an Ohio specific license. The Ohio Senate sent the state operating budget to the Ohio House on June 11 with a 23-10 vote after months of testimony. The chamber’s final version of Substitute House Bill 96 includes a flat tax on nonbusiness income phased in over two years.

Strong income tax collections drove state revenues $251 million past estimates last month. Preliminary numbers for May show overall, tax collections were up 9.8% over estimates according to the Office of Budget and Management (OBM). The state has collected $26.4 billion over the fiscal year, which is just over $800 million above estimates.
