There’s hope for the future of the profession yet, as a recent report cites “87% of Gen Z see professional accountancy as attractive or very attractive in terms of offering stable career path.”

The report “Make Way for Gen Z: Identifying What Matters Most to the Next Generation," from The International Federation of Accountants polled more than 3,000 individuals from ages 18 to 23 on a wide range of topics, including their own careers.

“80% of respondents cited a ‘stable career path’ as an important characteristic in choosing an accounting career, with another 76% and 71% citing ‘salary and benefits expectation’ and ‘work life balance,’ respectively.”

The report makes the observation that Gen Z’s preferences seem different from millennials, choosing more stable and financially-rewarding career paths. Read the full report here.
