Ohio House and Senate leadership announced

Sen. Rob McColley (R-Napoleon) will serve as Senate president in the 136th General Assembly, while Sen. Nickie Antonio (D-Lakewood) will remain minority leader, after both caucuses met and chose their leadership for the next session. 

Sen. Bill Reineke (R-Tiffin), was chosen as president pro tem; Sen. Theresa Gavarone (R-Bowling Green), majority floor leader; and Sen. George Lang (R-West Chester), majority whip. 

Senate Democrats re-elected Sen. Hearcel Craig (D-Columbus) as assistant minority leader; Sen. Kent Smith (D-Euclid), minority whip; and elected Sen.-elect Beth Liston (D-Dublin) as assistant minority whip. 

Senate President Matt Huffman (R-Lima) has been voted speaker in the 136th General Assembly by House Republicans. His leadership team includes:  

- Rep. Gayle Manning (R-North Ridgeville) as speaker pro tempore 

- Rep. Phil Plummer (R-Dayton) as assistant speaker pro tempore 

- Rep. Marilyn John (R-Shelby) as majority floor leader 

- Rep. Adam Bird (R-New Richmond) as assistant majority floor leader 

- Reps. Riordan McClain (R-Upper Sandusky), Steve Demetriou (R-Chagrin Falls), Nick Santucci (R-Niles) and Josh Williams (R-Oregon) as majority whips. 

Rep. Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) will keep her position as House minority leader next year, and House Democrats also affirmed support for three other caucus leaders.

Returning alongside Russo will be Rep. Dontavius Jarrells (D-Columbus) as assistant minority leader, Rep. Dani Isaacsohn (D-Cincinnati) as minority whip and Rep. Michele Grim (D-Toledo) as assistant minority whip.
