ABO notes: COVID-19, continuous testing impact exam

The Accountancy Board of Ohio welcomed several students and educators to its Oct. 16 virtual meeting. 

  • Guest Patricia Hartman, Director of Client Services for the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy discussed how COVID-19 and continuous testing have impacted the administration of the CPA exam. 
  • Guest Laura Hay, Executive Vice President of OSCPA, presented on opportunities for students to get involved in the profession. 
  • Board members discussed the 2020 ABO annual report, and trends in Ohio permits. The ABO is experiencing a significant increase in non-practicing registration holders converting to active permit status. 
  • The ABO approved the nominating committee report and recommendations. Officers for 2021 will be Kenya Watts, Chair, James Redmond, Vice-Chair, and Gerald Weinstein, Secretary. 
  • A disciplinary hearing was held for failing to respond to a CPE audit verification. The CPA’s certificate was revoked.
