Some people don’t recommend working with your significant other, but married CPAs, Mikaela and Michael Ferguson say it’s the best thing that could have happened to them.

Michael said that being at the same firm, they can talk about confidential things they wouldn’t be able to with those outside of the office.

The couple met at the firm in 2016 when Mikaela was working there full-time and Michael started as an intern.

They became friends throughout his internship and Michael was hired full-time later that year.

“Then, in June 2017, out of the blue, Michael asked if I wanted to go play mini golf with a few of his friends,” Mikaela said. “I was confused, but also very excited. We ended up hanging out just the two of us and from that moment on, we were inseparable.”

Mikaela and Michael were married on Aug. 24, 2019 in Michael’s hometown of Canton.

Their favorite things to do together are traveling, putting together puzzles, watching movies, and hanging out with friends and family. They also like watching sports and going to different sporting events.

They both never thought they would marry another accountant, but they enjoy sharing this commonality and being able to understand the technical aspects of their jobs.

Michael said, “Having not just my wife, but best friend, involved in the same career as me allows me to bounce ideas and thoughts off her and receive helpful feedback and support in return.”
