While OSCPA student ambassador Emily Stout aspires to become a CPA, she has also made time for one of her other passions — baking.

Stout, a senior majoring in accounting, business analytics and business prelaw at Ohio University, is no stranger to hard work and dedication as she has found herself working extra hours outside of school to launch Creation Cookies, her own gourmet cookie company.

“I had been baking more frequently within the past few years and I was always making way too much to eat on my own,” said Stout. “I really wanted to bring my cookies to other people and be able to work on my passion for baking while also giving back to others.”

Building connections is something that Stout enjoys about the accounting profession and being an OSCPA Student Ambassador. It is also something that she has found to be valuable in her business endeavors.

“It is important to try to get feedback from as many people as possible,” said Stout. “Branch out and contact people for advice, and don't let bad advice or negative feedback get you down because there's always room for improvement and you have to persevere.”

In addition to Stout’s professional goal of obtaining her CPA license, she intends to continue growing Creation Cookies.

“One of my goals is to possibly expand into Columbus or Athens and do different pop-ups or farmers markets there,” said Stout. “But my end goal is to get a bakery, whether that's in 20 years or 10 years, however long it takes. I would love to have a physical location in my town.”

Stout will graduate with her undergraduate degree this summer and will then begin a Master of Accountancy program at Ohio University. She plans to complete the program and graduate in 2024 and have her CPA license by the time she graduates.
