CPA Voice: Accounting knowledge of crypto still valuable

 Blockchain and cryptocurrency have become more of a conversation topic in mainstream financial markets. 

“Decentralized finance, non-fungible tokens the rapid proliferation of stablecoins and the continued research around central bank digital currencies are just a handful of the major topics that have burst into mainstream conversation in the past year,” writes Sean Stein Smith, CPA, professor at the City University of New York- Lehman College in the May/June issue of CPA Voice. 

Smith warns that with the innovation of these new technologies also comes an increase in fraud for investors. He suggests practitioners review the small details, have a crypto payment strategy and put in necessary safeguards to protect themselves and their business.
