CPA Voice: Integrating a diversity minute into your workday

Integrating diversity learning into the daily flow of your work doesn’t have to be strenuous or time-consuming.  

“One of the easiest ways to start incorporating DEI into your daily routine is with equal parts compassion and curiosity,” writes Jamie Ousterout of the Diversity Movement in the July/August issue of CPA Voice. “Ask your fellow employees and teammates questions about themselves and do so from a place of genuine interest.” 

Ousterout says managers and staff can incorporate this into regular meetings, and try prompts such as finding a short video, social media post or story from the news or pop culture around diversity to share with the team.  

“While these moments might seem small or uncomfortable at first, they offer a joyful way to create a more inclusive workplace culture by helping you and your team learn more about one another and other perspectives.”
