The Ohio Society of CPAs Executive Vice President Laura Hay has been elected to the AICPA Peer Review Board. She will serve a three-year term beginning May 2022.
Hay has more than 25 years of experience in the peer review space as the CPA on staff for OSCPA as an administering entity of the program. The Peer Review Board (PRB) is the senior technical committee governing the AICPA Peer Review Program. The
primary activities of the PRB are to establish and conduct, in cooperation with state CPA societies, a program for AICPA members engaged in the practice of public accounting.
The mission of the PRB is achieved through
furthering and governing the activities of the program. This includes developing, implementing, maintaining and enhancing comprehensive Standards for Performing and Reporting on Peer Reviews (Standards) and related guidance for firms subject
to peer review, those performing peer reviews and others involved in administering the program for the PRB.
The PRB promotes the continuous enhancement of quality in the performance of non-SEC accounting, auditing and attestation engagements by AICPA members and their firms enrolled in the Program and explicitly recognizes that protecting the public interest is an equally important objective of the Program.
“I’m thrilled to participate in this important self-governance function of the profession,” said Hay. “Peer review is a critical component of the profession’s commitment to quality, and it’s exciting to be a part of activities helping shape that mission.”
