The changes sparked by the Great Recession have meant finding the right balance of protecting and enhancing employee well-being, a talent management must that has become more important than ever. 

“…in reality, it goes far beyond physical health,” writes Alison Stevens, director of HR at Paychex. “It’s about nurturing the vibrancy and growth of individuals within your organization, including their social, emotional, financial and career wellness.” 

Paychex conducted a survey that found unsurprisingly, many participants’ well-being fell during the beginning of the pandemic and has not rebounded to pre-pandemic levels. And more than 6 in 10 said that well-being programs and benefits are now a top priority when applying for jobs.   

“Workplace benefits are a key deciding factor for the majority of individuals when job hunting” Stevens says. “This was found to be true regardless of whether employees work in-person, remotely or a hybrid of both.
