Is there anything you've learned about yourself being a parent?
Probably that I'm more patient than I thought it would be. In accounting you're always working with deadlines and working at a fast pace. I was surprised that I was able to take my time and relax with the kids and let them learn at their own pace instead of the pace I was expecting.
If you were not in accounting, what do you think you would be doing instead?
I think if I was not a CPA, I would probably be a farmer. I just enjoy knowing where my food comes from. Having a hand in that and helping grow your own fruits and vegetables is something that interests me. I don't think I'd make a good living at it, because I probably would be too small, and I'd be more self-sufficient than profitable. My grandfather actually has a small farm. We have always had vegetable gardens growing up and have a few fruit trees on our hunting property. I think also with a hunting mindset, where we try to source our own food, it all comes hand in hand. The more control you can have over what you're putting in your body, the better you feel about it.
