Many EBPA conferences nationally have been postponed or canceled for 2020, but The Ohio Society of CPAs is answering that need by offering its conference online to everyone, everywhere at the OSCPA member price.

National thought leaders presenting at the event include representatives from the U.S. Department of Labor in both the advanced session and the beginner boot camp (a track for those new to benefit plan audits or who need a refresher).

The speakers and OSCPA’s learning team are planning an informative and engaging virtual experience.

“We’re going to do everything we can to create interaction,” said Amber McAuliffe, CPA, OSCPA senior learning manager. “Whether that’s using the online polling feature in Zoom or the “chat” and “raise your hand” features, those important discussions will still be happening.”

McAuliffe said OSCPA’s EBPA task force will also be available to answer questions during breaks.

This conference is especially important because there will be sessions that touch on how COVID-19 has affected plan auditing. These include a DOL update focusing on the CARES Act and how it relates to retirement plans, as well as sessions touching on the SECURE Act, SAS 136 and technology.

“I think the technology sessions now have even more relevance with the audits happening remotely,” McAuliffe said.

So, whether you’re in a different state, this will be your first summer auditing employee benefit plans, you haven’t audited a plan for years, or you’re an EBPA pro looking for the latest updates, McAuliffe said this conference is a great opportunity.

“We’re bringing in national thought leaders and now you can get it from the comfort of your own home or the safety of wherever you’re working.”
