Time, attention needed to understand IT and mitigate risk

In the age of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, information technology issues are weighing heavily on businesses everywhere. Mike Moran, president at Affiliated Resource Group, said to survive, financial professionals must take the time to keep up with changes.

Moran will focus on helping financial professionals understand how the IT function can move their organizations forward in his presentation at the March 27 Columbus Strategic Finance and Accounting Summit.

“I will also cover some things that are going on from a compliancy security perspective,” he said. “So, attendees will leave in a good position to help understand and mitigate the risks and exposures threatening their organizations.”

Financial professionals who can help align their IT strategies with organizational goals and will increase their strategic value to the business.

“And not only can you achieve them faster, but you can achieve those goals in a stronger manner and sustain the viability and strength going forward,” Moran said.

He said he will also provide tools to help professionals understand their respective teams and ways to evaluate their position and their organizational maturity level.

“I’ll talk to them about helping with some specific activities and some things the organization can do to make technology more strategic to business,” he said, “but also help them do a better job of mitigating the risks and potentially saving on their investments in technology to move that forward.”

Moran said he is looking forward to helping people on the financial side of business who also oversee information technology to better understand the value and strategic position such a situation can provide.
