Ohio new business filings post big increase for August

New business filings in Ohio increased again in August compared with the same month in 2016.

There were 10,002 new entities filed to do business in Ohio during August 2017, according to Secretary of State Jon Husted. This is 1,507 more businesses than filed during August of 2016.

There were 9,306 new entities filed to do business in Ohio during April 2016, according to Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted. This is 413 more businesses than filed during April 2015 when 8,893 entities were formed.

So far this year, 81,981 new entities have filed to do business in Ohio. Due to the use of Ohio Business Central, the online business filing site founded by Secretary Husted in 2013, this number continues to climb. Three out of every four new businesses are now started online.

From the time Ohio Business Central was launched until the end of August 2017, the Secretary of State’s Office has processed nearly 305,000 online filings. Last month, Husted announced that 100% of all filings needed to start or maintain a business in Ohio may now be submitted online.
